From the recording Allegro for 2 Celli

Allesandro Scarlatti was born in Sicily in 1660 and achieved early reknown as a composer of opera. His immense populatiry in Italy soon spread throughout Europe and his music was performed in such far-flung cities as Vienna, Paris and London. He also composed a large amount of music for instrumental ensembles. This piece was likely written around the turn of the century (17/18th). Scarlatti died in Naples in 1725.
